ABSTRACT

52 strains of pneumococci were isolated at Charles Nicolle hospital of Tunis during 3 years period [1990-1992]. The disc susceptibility test to antibiotics showed 36,5% of the isolates with abnormal susceptibility to penicilline. They were mainly observed in tract respiratory samples [pleural fluids 100%, tracheal aspirates 40%]. Resistance to other antibiotics was often associated [erythromycin and tetracyclines 52,6%]. The MICs of penicillin G, ampicillin, cefotaxim determined on a sample of 27 strains showed that 7 of them were moderately resistant to penicillin [mean MIC 0,25micro g/ml] and 2 were resistant to a high level [mean MIC 3micro g/ml]. Cefotaxim and imipenem were the most active antibiotic on these strains with mean MICs of 0,29 micro g/ml respectively

ABSTRACT

366 strains of P. aeruginosa were studied. More than half of samples were issued from urology [40%] and general surgery [21%] and samples are mostly urine specimens [46%]. The phenotypes of resistance to 3 beta-lactams [respectively ticarcillin, cefotaxime and ceftazidime] showed that 73% of the strains were wild phenotype [SSS-SIS-SRS]. The MIC of ticarcillin +/- clavulonic acid, azlocillin, cefoperazone, cefsulodin, cefotaxime and ceftazidime against 93 strains chosen among different phenotypes of resistance showed that ceftazidime is the most active beta-lactam, 93% of strains being inhibited by 16 micro g/ml. These MIC and iodometric test performed on 33 strains with ticarcillin MIC > 128 mg/l showed that acquired resistance was non enzymatic in 21% of cases and was related to beta-lactamase production in 79% of cases

ABSTRACT

The incidence of Neisseria gonorrhea [NG] strains resistant to penicilline have increased. We evaluated this incidence from 1989 to 1991. First penicillinase-producing NG strains were isolated in 1989. in 1991, these strains represented 45% of isolates. Epidemiologic survey NG strains was then necessary

ABSTRACT

The authors present some cases of corynebacterium non diphteria infections gathered in the hosptial of charles Nicolle. They find 7 cases at ills with feeble immuno deficiency: three cases of urinary infection, one case of infection of catheter, two speticemia. 1 endocarditis
